I bought all 6 of these for 3k total. How bad was it? Or did I make out okay?

I am a lvl 12 E/Mo and pretty much bought them to sell to my friends or possibly use them in another build i may do.

oh and one more question. Where is the better place to sell, in-game, or in forums like these with trading posts? This is my first character, and pretty much my first time getting into trading/selling items (with larger values)

well if they get both sundering mods, the 10/9 string, +10/8 axe thats still doing good and with the perspective zones above all are dist 1 primary trading areas ... like it or not

Keep them only if those are the best weapons you have available to you. Otherwise salvage the long bow and the hammers for the mods and hope you get the sundering bow string and hammer mastery mods. Merchant the other items unless one of your characters can use them.

I'd say you will probably make a little cash from this as long as you don't get a raw deal salvaging the giant slayer's hammer. You'll get about 400 for the axes and short bow, which means you'd need to get 2600 from the others to break even.

I don't know how the in-game probabilities stack up (does anyone?), but assuming for weapons with 2 mods the odds are 40-40-20 to pull prefix-suffix-nothing, you have an expected value of 3-4 k from the longbow, 1.5-2.5k from the giant slayer's hammer, and about 4k from the summit hammer. This is all very rough obviously, but you can probably expect about 9500 here. Subtract out the 2600 you still have in this and you're making about 7k, assuming my guesses about the salvaging probabilities are correct..

All that's probability-weighted, of course, so your outcome could be much better (if you pull the sundering bow string, 20% hammer mastery, and sundering grip), or much worse (if you pull lots of planks and ingots).
